Famous Italian Wines
As we all know that Italy is well-known for many things, but I don’t know it is most well-known for its wine. The wines of Italy are nearly as varied as the people themselves. Wine is very common in Italy, as are tea and coffee in other parts of the world. There are many different types of wine. The two most distinct classifications are red wine and white wine. There is a lot more to that than meets the eye when it comes to fine wine though. There are table wines, after feast wines, lighter wine to be loved during the day, the types of wine, whether white wine or red wine, are nearly endless.
Italian wines are usually ranked amongst the best wines in the world. The demand for Italian wines is so high that this small country produces around 8 billion bottles of wine each year. But the on the rise number has not resulted in deterioration in quality, as most Italian wine producers are known for their strict quality control.
The history of Italian wine dates back around four thousand years. I don’t know, what has helped Italian wine stay ahead of its competitors is the fact that Italy has more local grape varieties than any other country on earth. Italian wine is considered unique due to rich blend of diverse wine cultures that exist in innumerable wine regions in the country. There are particular general qualities of Italian wine which make it stand out in the crowded wine market.
A number of grape varieties that do not grow in other parts of the world are developed in Italy. These varieties are used for producing wines which have unmatched taste. Italian wines are available in a wide range of prices. Some of them are very expensive, but many of them are easily affordable. A number of Italian wine stores sell these wines online. Most well loved department supplies also sell Italian wine bottles from different parts of the world. It is better to buy Italian wine from an authorized store, as many ordinary wines are also sold as “Italian wine” in the market.
These are some of my personal pet wine and food pairings for French and Italian wines:
Beef = Amarone,
Cheese = Beaujolais,
Chicken = Chardonnay,
Cold Meats = Tavel,
Chile = Grumello,
Chinese Food = Soave,
Clams and Oysters = Champagne,
Duck = Pouilly-Fume,
Fish = Muscadet,
Ham = Pinot Grigio,
Lamb = Saint-Emilion,
Ossco Bucco = Barbaresco,
Pate = Saint-Veran,
Pheasant = Vino Nobile di Montepulciano,
Pork = Pouilly-Fuisse,
Red Sauce = Chianti,
White Sauce = Pinot Grigio,
Sauerbraten = Riesling,
Shell Fish = Gavi,
Steak = Gattinara,
Stew = Barolo,
Veal = Soave, and
Venison = Pomerol
In the end, it is really a matter of personal inclination and what suits your palate. If your restaurant does not have these particular recommendations in their wine vault, you can always question the sommelier to recommend a touch comparable.
These suggestions should enable you to at least buy or order to the proper wine to accompany feast. Of course, there is a lot more to know about ordering wine, wine tasting, wine production, and wine conversation.

Versatality Of Wine
The Incredible Versatality Of Wine
Want your feast to be supremely festive? Then, instead of the still wines, offer a choice of Champagne and Sparkling Burgundy.
|
An extra fillip, to backtrack a course or two, is to serve a unique wine with the soup. This presents no problem: the wine that goes with any soupso well, indeed, that the best canned soups already contain someis Sherry. When it comes to dessert, the choice is also simple, because most desserts are sweet, and so are dessert wines such as Port, Tokay, Muscatel, Cream Sherry, and the innumerable berry wines. If you happen to encounter an especially tasty, extra-sweet Sauterne, you will delight in that with dessert, too. The members of my family like assorted cheeses at the end of a meal. We find that some of our guests delight in a hearty dry red wine such as Cabernet Franc as the accompaniment, while others prefer red Port. Moving on to the bridge table, which also gets exercise some afternoons, there are many wines to sip between bids. |
Cool White Port, Cream Sherry, the sweet Concord and berry wines, and those flavored specialties already mentioned are all especially well loved here. A mixture of Sauvignon Blanc and lemon juice became the standard afternoon bridge drink in one California suburban community a few years back.
For guests who just drop in casually, afternoon or evening, the bridge-table beverages will also do. In hot, stuffy summer weather, but, serve them any chilled Rose or a Wine Cooler. The latter can be anything you feel like mixing, from the simple spritzer (white wine and seltzer) to wine lemonade (lemonade with red wine or Rose added), to the innumerable wine punches that you usually can pick up at your beverage store.
In recent years many people have learned that any wine can be mixed with any kind of sweet soda pop (especially the lemon-flavored ones) and served as a tasty light highball. Wine for the barbecue is easily chosen. Over again it is Rose or any red feast wine. If you prefer to serve white wine with those sizzling, charcoal-broiled chickens, bring out a tub of ice to keep the bottles well chilled in hot weather.
The incredible versatility of wine extends to cold winter nights also. A traditional warmer-upper in the ski country is hot mulled wine: sweetened red wine such as Grenache or Pinot Noir spiced with cloves and lemon peel, warmed and served with cinnamon sticks. Also available are hot buttered wine, Sherry Tom and Jerry, and others for this purpose.
How about quantity punches for parties? The best known, of course, is Champagne Punch. But here we must protest; there can be no excuse for wasting excellent Champagne in a mixture where this effervescent wine loses its identity and where bubbles can be gotten much more cheaply from sparkling water.
Use still wines to mix the punch; then add club soda, and finally a single bottle of Champagne for the use of its glamorous name. Punch recipes, with ingredients such as sherbets, frozen concentrates, canned juices, and fresh fruits, are available by the score.
