Choosing wine to match food
you should always ensure that the wine does not overpower the dish, and you also need to avoid flavor transferring. This occurs when a flavor is passed from the wine to a meal, as it can result in an unpleasant taste.
White Wine
When making a wine and food combination, Chardonnay is best complimented with Veal, Salmon, grilled cheese and white sauce. You should avoid spicy foods with this drink. Gewurztraminer is ideal when matched with Pork, Chinese foods and Swiss cheese but must be avoided with light foods. Pinot Grigio is not an ideal option for Tomatoes and spicy food as this combination may make a rather unpleasant taste. Riesling is a very dry wine and perfect when teamed with Veal, Shrimp, cream sauces and Turkey. Sweet food should be avoided with Riesling and Sancerre but.
Red Wine
In a perfect world a food recommendation would be built-in on the back of a wine bottle. Fortunately we can give you the insiders tips to getting a wine and food combination just right. Barberra red wine is perfect with Pizza, pasta, lasagne and lemon chicken. When eating fish or tomatoes, Cabernet Sauvignon should be avoided. This wine is better suited with chocolate, roast lamb, steak and duck. Merlot is perfectly matched with grilled meats such as barbecue meat and chicken. Avoid sweet food with this wine. Pinot Noir is not well matched with spicy foods such as Indian, instead it is ideal with Salmon, tuna, lamb and duck. Shiraz is fantastic with a meal of barbecue, peppered red meats and sausage but should be avoided with fish.
In general, wine is best served at a chilled temperature, as it is able to breathe and make the perfect mix of aromas that will delight the senses and impress your guests. Each type of wine has a glass that coordinates with it. If you do not have a cupboard full of every wineglass imaginable though, use the next closest looking glass. The reason that there are so many types of wineglasses available, is that each one is designed to emphasise the full aromas and tastes surrounded by a given type of wine. If the wine isn’t served in quite the right glass, all these aromas and flavors may not be fully realised.
How much to serve
Wine should be opened and served carefully, especially red wine as this may make a nasty mess if spilt on white clothing or feast wear. Do not overfill glasses. It is best to serve a small amount of wine at first, as this will allow the remainder of the wine in the bottle to breathe. White wine should have an average serving of three ounces, spirits one ounce and red wine four or five ounces. Serving smaller servings will help the wine last longer and will allow guests to savour it over a greater length of time.
Temperature Guidelines
Normally a bottle of wine may take up to three hours before it is appropriately chilled in the refrigerator. Serving the wine at the right temperature may be a difference of whether the wine will be ideal to drink for maximum aroma and taste, and may make or break a charming feast experience for you and your guests. A fantastic way to chill your wine to perfection quick and easily is to place your bottle into a bucket filled with ice and a sprinkling of salt. Push the wine into the depths of the ice to quickly chill the bottle. The more expensive the wine the warmer it can be served. White wines especially the dry sorts are best served at lower temperatures but. And, lastly heavy wines are best served at the room temperature.

Choosing The Perfect Wine Chiller
Choosing the perfect wine cooler for your collection of fine wines could not be any simpler. Your pronouncement should really be based on your needs. There are several different styles, brands and types of wine chillers. Some are called wine chillers and now and again they are referred to as wine cellars. The point of each is the same. To keep your wine collection in a humidity and temperature controlled environment.
You may be asking yourself why do I need a wine chiller? Excellent wines need proper storage and making sure that your wine is stored properly will ensure a perfect drink at any time.
Here are some things to consider and look for when choosing the prefect wine cooler. A excellent wine vault should allow the wine bottles to sit on their sides. They should be easily accessible. You want to be able to get to any bottle without disturbing or moving any other bottles in your collection. Keeping those bottles still is a very vital part of aging your drink.
The next thing to focus on would be the size. There are large wine chillers and some that are made for a single bottle. The size should be determined by the size of your current on the rise collection. Make sure there is ample room for all of your bottles and any new ones that you might want to add.
You should also check the quality of the construction. A well built wine chiller will have quality hinges and seals that prevent any temperature or humidity leaks. You want a constant temperature of around 55 degrees. A temperature thermostat and a humidity thermostat are also very vital features that should be considered.
Keeping all of this in mind should help you make the perfect pronouncement on your wine cooler.

Choosing the Right Wine Tote or Wine Carrier
Choosing the right wine tote does not have to keep you up at night, but it does require a small thought. Let’s go over the different types of wine totes & carriers and where they are best used. First, if your looking for a quick answer here it is… Get two! One that holds one bottle of wine and one that holds two bottles of wine. There are many occasions that call for both, so by having both at your fiddle with tips, you can avoid having to “brown” bag it. It is very classy to show up at a party or a “BYOB” restaurant with your wine in it’s own carrier.
The wine tote that holds one bottle is fantastic for those occasions that are more intimate. Picnicking with your honey, a cozy feast for two. You could also use a single bottle wine tote if you are meeting a group of friends and everyone is bringing some vino for all too delight in. One of the secrets about the single bottle wine tote is if your wine carrier also holds a couple wine glasses, you can usually remove the glasses and turn your one bottle wine tote into a two bottle wine tote. This trick may also be used to to turn your two bottle tote into a three bottle wine tote. Of coarse, it will depend on the design and style of the wine tote to do this trick.
The two bottle wine tote is the most versatile. It allows you to bring a white and a red or a red and a bottle of champagne, or two reds, I reckon you get the picture. Plus, by having that extra bottle of wine you wont run into distress when the couple you are meeting for feast forgets to bring a bottle. Believe me, there is nothing worse then showing up to a BYOB restaurant with 1 bottle of wine to share between 4 or more people. By the time you have a glass just catching up with your friends you have nothing left for your meal.
The three bottle wine tote is usually designated to the serious wine lover and the self who likes to have lots of choices. I can say that there has been times when I wish I had a few options. Don’t get me incorrect, the wine I carry to a restaurant is a touch I want to drink no matter what I choose to eat for feast, but now and again you choose to get the tilapia fish unique and you have a nice bottle of white wine sitting in your wine fridge at home.
The most vital things to look for when buying a wine tote is a pocket inside that will hold a corkscrew. Excellent quality wine totes, like the ones from Rhino Wine Gear, will come with a corkscrew and a nice pocket to store it in. Corkscrews are affordable enough that you should by no means be stuck without one. I recommend keeping one in your car in case of a wine emergency.
